Green Chutney/Coriander and Mint Chutney

This mint and coriander flavor chutney is a favorite Indian accompaniment. It can be used as a sandwich spread. Samosas, dhoklas, vada pavs, bhel are incomplete without this chutney. Chaat dishes are especialy incomplete without this chutney.

Green Chutney

Makes: 2 cups

Cooking time: nil Preparation Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 cup of chopped coriander leaves
  • 1 cup chopped mint leaves
  • 1 tablespoon chopped ginger
  • 2 green chillies
  • 1 teaspoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • Salt to taste

Method

Combine all the ingredients and grind to a smooth paste in a blender, adding very little water. The addition of lemon juice enhances the flavors of mint and coriander and prevents discoloration of the greens.

Refrigerate and use as required
