A mouth watering and nutritious recipe of spinach and cottage cheese. Savor it with hot Phulka’s or Jeera Pulav. Great for children over 12 months of age.

Palak Paneer

Serves: 4 persons

Cooking time: about 30 minutes Preparation Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 cups paneer cubes/ 200 grams packet of paneer or Home Made Paneer
  • 3 cups cooked and pureed palak/spinach
  • 1 cup sliced onions
  • 1 teaspoon chopped ginger
  • 1 cup ripe chopped tomatoes
  • 1 inch long cinnamon stick
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon Vegetable/Sunflower oil
  • Salt to taste

Method

Soak the paneer in hot salt water for about 30 minutes. This process makes the paneer soft and tasty

Heat oil in a frying pan, add cumin seeds, chopped ginger and sliced onions. Sauté until onions become soft and golden color.

Add cinnamon stick, tomatoes, turmeric powder, cumin powder, spinach and butter. Simmer for 5 minutes.

Add the paneer cubes and serve with hot phulka’s.
