Festival Samayal (Winner Gourmand World Cookbook Award)
“Festivals in India are an important aspect of social, religious and cultural life of its people. Food is an integral part of this festivity. Each festival is associated with particular dishes that are also related to the season when the festival occurs.” an excerpt from the book “Festival Samayal“.

The author Viji Vardarajan is a renowned South Indian Cookbook author who has authored many books on South Indian Vegetarian Cooking, more particularly the Tamil Brahmin Cooking. She was trained to become a “Home Cook” of great stature through the dual influences of her parental home and her husband’s family traditions.
She has analyzed her dishes from the point of view of nutrition and health and presents recipes that are perfectly balanced -low in fat and cholesterol, yet protein and vitamin rich. She has also recognized the need of a busy professional who needs to put together a meal in a minimum time frame.
As you browse through the recipes in her book, you will be taken back to the good old days of Tamil Brahmin traditional food, which you might have been longing to eat. When you see her pictures and the personal touch in her recipes, you cant help but trying them.
She is none other than my favorite periamma (mother’s sister).

Tam Bram cooking sounds so interesting - particularly for festivals.
What a wonderful new look for your blog. Did you design it yourself? (I have been struggling with simple things like recipe indexes:)
I noticed you haven’t been tagged for a meme - so if you don’t mind, I’d like to tag you for one.
