The Dahi Batata Puri Chaat Recipe is a favourite street food speciality and is daily simple to make if you have all the ingredients ready. This batata puri chaat is a favourite street food of Mumbai, so much so that it has spread all over India and every chaat wala “Street Food Vendor” has his own version of sev puri. As the name indicates, this dish has sev topped on puri’s or papadi along with potatoes and chutneys. This is an absolutely tangy, crisp and mouth watering dish that is savoured fresh, as soon as it is made.

Serve Dahi Batata Puri Chaat as a tea time evening snack for chaat parties or tea parties or even as an appetizer for parties.

 

Ingredients

  • 24 papdi or puris (pani puri)

  • 2 large boiled potatoes, cubed or sliced

  • 1/4 cup raw mango, finely chopped (optional if not in season)

  • 1 teaspoon chaat masala

  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

  • 2 onions, finely chopped

  • 1/2 cup whisked yogurt optional

  • kala namak to taste

  • 1 tablespoon sugar

  • chilli powder optional (garnish

  • chaat masala powder (garnish) 

  • 1/2 cup Green Chutney

  • 1/2 cup Date and Tamarind Chutney

  • 1 cup sev

  • a small bunch of chopped coriander leaves

Directions for Dahi Batata Puri Chaat Recipe

  1. To begin making the Dahi Batata Puri Chaat Recipe, first prep all the ingredients and keep them ready.  Boil the potatoes, peel and cut them. Make the Garlic ChutneyGreen Chutney and Date and Tamarind Chutney and keep them aside.

  2. Once you have all the ingredients prepped. In a mixing bowl, combine the boiled potatoes, raw mango, chaat masala powder  and juice from one lemon. Stir well to combine and keep them aside.

  3. Whisk the yogurt/ dahi ingredients and keep aside.

  4. Arrange the puris or papadi on a serving plate. Spoon in  small portions of the potato mixture into each one of the puris.

  5. Add the onions, the dahi into each of the puri. Finally add the chutneys and sprinkle with sev, any additional chaat masala powder and red chili powder and coriander leaves and serve.
