This is a wonderful, snappy holiday cookie - like an old fashioned sugar cookie all jazzed up.

Makes: about 50
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter, at room temperature
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 1 egg
- 2 cups of all purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 tablespoon of ground ginger powder
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 2 tablespoons of brandy
Topping 3 tablespoons of confectioner's sugar
Method
Cream the butter, sugar until light and fluffy. Add the molasses and eggs and beat well.
In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, salt, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves.
Gradually beat in the dry ingredients to the butter mixture. Form the dough into a ball and chill for 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 180 C. Prepare the baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper Spread the TOPPING sugar on a plate. Shape the dough into 1 inch balls and roll each ball in sugar and place on the baking sheet. Bake for about 12 minutes, until just firm and a bit crisp around the edges.
