Tikkis as I like to call them are delicious appetizers which are relished in almost every Indian party. But ever tried baking them. These tikkis are made from cooked peas (mutter), combined with mint leaves (phudine) are baked in the oven until browned and crisp and serve with some deliciously tasting green chutney.

Makes: 10 - 12 Tikkis Baking Time: 30 minutes Preparation Time: 30 minutes
Ingredients
- 1 cup of steamed green peas
- 1 cup cooked and mashed potatoes
- 3 tablespoons of chopped mint leaves
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 2 finely chopped green chillies
- 2 tablespoons of oil/butter
- 3/4 cup of Bread crumbs
- salt to taste
Method
Preheat oven to 200 C.
Combine all the ingredients into a blender to make a coarse mixture. Use the pulse mode so it does not become too mushy. Alternatively you combine all the ingredients with your hand, until the peas is also coarsely mashed.
Divide the mixture into 10-12 portions and shape as desired, either into balls, or flattened balls or triangles or hearts. Rolls the tikkis on the bread crumbs and place them on a greased baking tray.
Bake for about 30 minutes or until the tikkis have turned crisp, golden and have started browning.
Remove from oven and transfer into a serving platter and serve hot with green chutney.
