Ingredients

  • 1 Bottle gourd (lauki) , peeled and chopped
  • 2 Tomatoes , finely chopped 
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin seeds (Jeera)
  • 2 tablespoons Sambar Powder
  • 1 sprig Curry leaves
  • Salt , to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Gingelly oil , for cooking 
  • 6 sprig Coriander (Dhania) Leaves , finely chopped
  • Oil

How to make Karnataka Style Sorakaya Palya Recipe - Karnataka Style Bottle Gourd Sabzi

  1. We begin making the Karnataka Style Sorakaya Palya Recipe , prepare all the ingredients and keep ready.

  2. Heat oil in the pressure cooker over medium heat; add the cumin seeds and allow it to crackle.

  3. Stir in the curry leaves, chopped tomatoes and sambar powder. Saute the tomatoes until they become soft and mushy

  4. Once mushy, add the diced bottle gourd, salt to taste and 2 tablespoons of water. Cover the pressure cooker and cook for 2 to 3 whistles and turn off the heat.

  5. Allow the pressure to release naturally. Once the pressure releases, open the cooker, give the Sorakaya Palya a stir and check taste and adjust salt according to taste.

  6. Finally stir in the chopped coriander leaves and transfer the Sorakaya Palya to a serving bowl.
