My mother usually makes this sesame seeds chutney for some special traditional occasions.This relish is referred to as Til Ki chutney in Hindi and Nuvvula Pachadi in Telugu.

Nuvvula Pachadi is a simple recipe that can be prepared with ease and with very less time in hand. This gentle chutney makes an excellent accompaniment for vadas. Furthermore, Nuvvula Pachadi, goes well with idlis and dosas too. It can also, be savored with rice, along with a dab of oil.Serve Nuvvula Pachadi with your choice of food for breakfast next time.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Sesame seeds (Til seeds)
  • 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder , adjust according to your preference
  • 1 teaspoon Tamarind
  • 1-2 teaspoon Yogurt (Curd)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Lemon juice
  • Salt , as per taste
  • For seasoning:
  • 1/2 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • pinch Asafoetida (hing)

Directions for Nuvvula Pachadi Recipe (Sesame Seeds Chutney)

  1. To begin the preparation of Nuvvula Pachadi, first heat a shallow pan. Dry roast the sesame seeds until they turn pale brown. Cool it. Transfer this to a blender jar.

  2. Add chilli powder to this mix. I used homemade chilli powder as this imparts a unique taste to the dish.

  3. Add tamarind juice and salt. Blend for a few seconds to attain a coarse consistency. Transfer this to a bowl.

  4. Add curd and lime juice. Mix. Add the seasoning of mustard seeds and hing.

  5. Mix and serve this tangy Nuvvula Pachadi with idlis and dosas for your breakfast.
