Chilli Potato Wedges

Sweet, tangy and chillied potato’s are simple, delicious and easy to make. They make a great appetizer for any party. The best part of these is that they get made in a jiffy if you already have some boiled potatoes. The sesame seed gives the crunchy texture; in addition, the garlic, ginger and the soy sauce adds the required kick for this sweet potato.

Chilli Potatoes Wedges

Serves: 4
Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Preparation Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • 3 cups of peeled diced firmly cooked potatoes (sweet potatoes also work well)
  • 1 teaspoon chopped garlic
  • ½ teaspoon chopped ginger
  • 1 teaspoon chopped green chillies
  • 2 tablespoons soya sauce
  • ½ teaspoon chilli sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 4 tablespoons sesame oil (or Vegetable Oil)
  • ¼ cup chopped spring onion for garnishing
  • Salt to taste

Method

Heat oil in a wok on medium heat; add sesame seeds, ginger, green chillies, garlic. Sauté for a few seconds and add the potatoes. Sauté for a few minutes

Turn heat to high; add soy sauce, chilli sauce and sauté for 2 minutes on high flame, taking care not to mash the potatoes. Turn off heat.

Garnish with spring onions and serve it with toothpicks pricked on it as a starter.

You have to cook the potatoes, this was mentioned in the Method part. Now I will make the change in the ingredient list itself. Thanks for coming in to help correct!

Used a similar recipe awhile ago but for chicken wings - only thing extra was honey and it was baked. But sweet potatoes ... now thats unique. Another one I shall definitely try :-)

This is fascinating. I've never heard of potatoes this way. Since I am a potato lover, you can bet I'll be giving this a try.
