Fresh healthy hummus and roasted veggies are an excellent party-time starter. The roasted bell pepper in the hummus lends it's wonderful aroma and texture to the entire dip, making it wholesome and flavorsome. Bell peppers are not only an excellent source of carotenoids but also rich in vitamins, fiber and other nutrients. They are amazing antioxidants and recent research also suggests that intake of bell peppers can reduce risk for gastric cancer and esophageal cancer.
Beetroot dip is a delicious dish made from roasted beets, combined with ginger, and sour cream, giving it perfect taste to the palate. You can relish it as a spread, a dip or as canapé with some fine cheese. This recipe can’t get more simple and delicious as it gets.
This Greek dip is made with yogurt/curd that is hung in a muslin cloth until it releases all its whey and has a think an creamy consistency. Flavored with garlic, parsley and chilli flakes, makes it a perfect accompaniment. Serve it as an appetizer, along with a meal, spread or just like that, its sure to make your meal linger on.
Baba ganoush a Middle Eastern spread and dip is similar to hummus, but is made with eggplant instead of chickpeas (garbanzo beans). Some call it a delicious Mediterranean diet appetizer. The slightly smokey flavor from the roasted eggplants makes it irresistible.
Tahini, or sesame seed paste, can be found in health food stores, gourmet shops and even many grocery stores. I did not find tahini and instead used 1/4 cup of sesame seeds for the recipe and it turned out just as great.
