  • 1 cup Gram flour (besan)
  • 2 tablespoons Sooji (Semolina/ Rava)
  • 3 tablespoons Curd (Dahi / Yogurt)
  • Salt , as required
  • 3 teaspoons Sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoon Ginger , paste
  • 1/2 tablespoon Green Chilli , paste
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder (Haldi)
  • 1 teaspoon Enos fruit salt
  • Water , as required, to make the batter
  • For tempering
  • 2 tablespoons Cooking oil
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Asafoetida (hing)
  • 2 Green Chillies , slit
  • 2 sprig Coriander (Dhania) Leaves , finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoon Fresh coconut , grated
  • 1/4 cup Water , + 2 tablespoons water for tadka
  • Salt , as required
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar

How to make Microwave Dhokla Recipe

  1. To begin with Microwave Dhokla, first add all the ingredients except the fruit salt and water in a big bowl. Make sure that everything is mixed properly.

  2. Now slowly add water in batches to make a smooth dough. Remember that the consistency of dough should be that of the Idli batter. Now let this batter sit for 5 minutes.

  3. After 5 minutes, add fruit salt in the batter. Mix well and you will notice that the mixture will start frothing.

  4. Now take a microwave safe bowl and apply oil to all the sides of the bowl. Pour the entire mixture in the bowl and cover it with a tissue paper.

  5. Microwave it for 2 to 3 minutes. After 2 to 3 minutes, take the bowl out.

  6. Uncover the bowl and be careful as the contents of the bowl is very hot at this point.

  7. Check if the dhokla is done by inserting a knife in it. If it comes out clean, then the dhokla is ready.

  8. The next step is to temper the Dhokla. In a tadka pan, add oil.

  9. When its hot, add all ingredients mentioned under ‘For tempering’ except the grated coconut.

  10. When it splutters add water, salt and sugar. Let it boil for a minute or less and switch off the gas.

  11. Now pour this mixture over the dhokla, sprinkle the chopped coriander leaves and grated coconut.

  12. Let the tadka water sink in well. When it cools down a bit, cut the dhokla into desired shape and it is ready to be served.

  13. Serve Microwave Dhokla with a hot cup of Masala Chai during your tea time break.
