Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup Chana dal (Bengal Gram Dal)
  • 1/4 cup Arhar dal (Split Toor Dal)
  • 1/2 cup Banana flower (Vazhaipoo) , soaked in buttermilk, chopped
  • 2 Green Chillies , finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Fennel seeds (Saunf) , coarsely pounded
  • 1/4 teaspoon Asafoetida (hing)
  • 1/4 cup Pearl onions (Sambar Onions) , finely chopped
  • 3-4 cloves Garlic , pound
  • 1 sprig Curry leaves , finely chopped
  • 2 sprig Coriander (Dhania) Leaves , finely chopped
  • Salt , to taste
  • Oil , for deep frying

How to make Vazhaipoo Vadai Recipe (Banana Flower Fried Savoury Snack)

  1. We begin Vazhaipoo Vadai Recipe (Banana Flower Fried Savoury Snack Recipe) by soaking the chana dal and toor dal in hot water for half an hour.

  2. Next, we move on to prepping the Banana Flower. Peel the banana flower petals and remove the white small florets inside.

  6. Heat oil for deep frying in a deep frying pan and shape the vada into small flat discs and deep fry until browned and crisp.
