When we think about Maharashtrian Recipes, the first thing that comes to many of us is the delightful Pav Bhaji, Vada Pav, Pani Puri, Bhel, Usal Pav and so on and on. They have inexhaustible variety of street foods which can be delightfully prepared at home with the same authentic taste. 

However, the Maharashtrian food is more than just that simple street food we find there. Maharashtrian cuisine includes mild and spicy dishes. Wheat, rice, jowar, bajra, vegetables, lentils and fruit are dietary staples. In addition, Maharashtrian recipes have the speciality masala called Goda masala, which has a delicate blend of spices and adds a fantastic touch to sabzi and dal's. However, each family has its own special way of making the Goda masala which in turn adds to the taste in their recipes. Peanuts also known as Moong Phali is used extensively in a lot of their sabzi and dals.
