Takkali Kadalamavu Curry Recipe (Tomato In Gram Flour Gravy)
Takkali Kadalamavu Curry is a perfect combination of gram flour and tomato and is served with rice.
My grandmother often makes this quick gojju with tomatoes and gram flour. It almost feels like a 'cheat dal' and goes perfectly well with chapatis. This has become a staple for dinner whenever I am too tired or short of time. I like it as a side dish with curd rice too.

How to make Takkali Kadalamavu Curry Recipe (Tomato In Gram Flour Gravy)
To begin making the Takkali Kadalamavu Curry recipe, heat oil in a heavy bottomed pan. Add mustard seeds, asafoetida and cook for about 15 seconds.
After 15 seconds, add green chillies, grated ginger and turmeric powder. Stir well and fry for about 30 seconds.
Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until the oil starts to separate. Mix the besan/ gram flour with water [such that no lumps remain].
Meanwhile, mix the besan/gram flour with water [such that no lumps remain]. Add this besan mix and salt to the cooked tomatoes.
Mix well and simmer on low heat for 4 to 5 minutes. Stir continuously. Add water to adjust the consistency if required. [The gojju must have a thick smooth gravy-like consistency] Garnish with chopped coriander and serve hot.
Pass the besan mix through a strainer to avoid any lumps in the gojju.
Keep the heat on low once the besan mix is added to avoid the gojju from over-thickening.
