Bananas are a great weaning food for babies mainly due to the fact that it is easily digestible. Bananas are sweet and makes for a great sweetening ingredient into any food that is being fed to babies or toddlers. Apples, as we all know are delicious and a rich source of dietary fibre and Vitamins A and C. 

Rice is another staple food which is easily digestible, rice gives babies a lot of energy so that can move around and exercise those muscles. 

In this recipe, we are adding cooked and mashed rice along with apples and bananas. Inclusion of bananas into the porridge is to add a sweetening ingredient thereby eliminating the need for adding any sweetening agent like sugar.

Ingredients

  • 1 Ripe Bananas , small variety (Yelakki Banana)
  • 1 Apple , peeled and cored
  • 1/4 cup Rice

How to make Banana Apple Porridge Recipe - 6 Months Above For Babies & Toddlers

  1. To begin making the Banana and Apple Porridge for babies, we have to first cook the rice.

  2. Add 1/4 cup rice along with 1/2 cup water to a pressure cooker. 

  3. Pressure cook for 3 whistles, turn off the heat and release the pressure naturally. 

  4. Meanwhile, mash the banana in a bowl and keep aside. 

  5. Peel and core an apple and cut the apple into small pieces.

  6. Add 1/4 cup water into a saucepan. Add the cut apple pieces to the saucepan and boil the apple pieces in the water until it is well cooked. 

  7. Once the apple pieces are cooked, remove from the saucepan and mash them. 

  8. In a bowl, add the cooked rice and mash it. 

  9. Next add the mashed banana and apples into the mashed rice. Give it a good mix. 

  10. Banana and Apple Porridge is ready to be served. You can add some water or milk if you baby prefers it to be thinner.
