Chocolate Peda is an Indian fudge sweet that is prepared during festivals and celebrations. The traditional pedas involves an elaborate cooking process. However, this recipe is an instant one using milk powder and condensed milk. These instant ones are equally rich, flavorful with a melt in mouth texture and can be prepared within 25 minutes.

Addition of cocoa powder gives a lovely chocolate taste to the doodh pedas.

Serve Chocolate Peda as a sweet dish during special occasions and festivals.

    1/4 cup Cocoa Powder, dark
    400 grams Condensed Milk
    1/4 cup Milk
    1 tablespoon Cardamom Powder (Elaichi)
    1/4 Pistachios, chopped, for garnishing
    2 tablespoons Butter (Salted)
2 tablespoons Ghee, (to rub it in hands before shaping peda)

Instructions for Chocolate Peda Recipe

    1

To begin making the Chocolate Peda, melt the butter in a non-stick pan on low heat. When it is melted, switch off the heat and add milk powder & dark cocoa powder.

    2

Using a spatula mix the ingredients well and then add the condensed milk. Now turn on the heat and keep it in a low flame.

    3

Start stirring the mixture and slowly add milk and cardamom powder. Continue stirring for about 10-12 minutes.

    4

The chocolate mixture will start to leave the sides of the pan. At this stage, turn off the flame and transfer the mixture on to a plate greased with ghee.

    5

Rub your hands with a tablespoon of ghee and then start shaping the pedas.

    6

The pedas will initially be sticky and after around 3-4 hours they start to hold the shape well.

    7

Using your thumb make an impression at the centre of the pedas and fill it with chopped pistachios.

    8

Serve Chocolate Peda as a sweet dish during special occasions and festivals.
