Tacos are a traditional Mexican dish where in a shell called tortilla made mostly of wheat or corn flour, is wrapped around a filling. It is believed that the origin of tacos occurred in the Mexican silver mines since the first taco ever was called 'taco de minero' which translates to Miners' Taco. The word taco originally referred to pieces of paper that miners would wrap around gunpowder and use in holes that were carved into the face of the rock. 

Tacos now are a Mexican staple, and easily the most popular Mexican dish given the ease with which the filling can be made with absolutely anything varying from meat, vegetables to cheese. A taco is often served with garnishes like guacamole, salsa, chili pepper et al. The tortilla can be a hard crunchy shell or a soft shell. 

What we love most about tacos, is the versatility it comes with, just like a sandwich. You can combine different ingredients together like beans, potato, tofu, meat et al, to put together a taco that satiates your taste buds.
