Unlike its name, peanuts aren't really nuts, but are legumes belonging to the beans and pea family. True to its nature of being a legume, peanuts are also an excellent source of protein.They are called Moongphali in Hindi, Kadale Kaayi in Kannada, Shengdaane in Marathi et al. India is one amongst the leading producer of peanuts in the world and peanuts are available easily all through the year across the country. They are also classified as nuts because the possess the characteristics of other nuts like almonds, cashew nuts etc. 

Apart from being a rich source of plant based protein, peanuts are also packed with nutrients required for the healthy growth and development of the body. It is a great source of monounsaturated fats which decreases the risks of cardiovascular diseases, a rich source of manganese which assists in better fat and carbohydrate metabolism, calcium absorption, maintaining blood sugar level et al. Peanuts are an excellent source of healthy fats, contains potent anti aging molecules called the resveratrol, rich source of vitamins and minerals like biotin, copper, vitamin, thiamin, magnesium, folates etc.  

If these are not reasons enough to include peanuts in your diet, peanuts are also extremely tasty and can be easily included in your daily diet, boiled, steamed, roasted, and how can we forget peanut butter. They add a delicious crunch and distinct texture to the recipes they are added to, be it a salad, fritter, spread et al.
