Mamidikaya Pappu Recipe (Raw Mango Dal) is an easy recipe and raw mango gives a perfect twist to our regular dal. Full of flavour and comes with a good nutrition value. Made with Arhar or toor dal, this gives a creamy texture to the dal made, and the raw mangoes add that tangy twist to the taste.

To begin making Mamidikaya Pappu Recipe (Raw Mango Dal), firstly, wash arhar dal/toor dal properly inn running water.
Add arhar dal and grated raw mangoes in a pressure cooker, along with turmeric powder and a bit of salt to taste. Pressure cook on high heat till 3-4 whistles.
Once Cooker cools down on its own, mash the cooked toor dal properly with masher, or the backside of a ladle.
Now to start tempering, heat oil in a kadai.
Once the oil is hot, add dry red chillies and crushed garlic pods, and saute it until it is golden brown and the raw aroma of the garlic goes away.
Immediately add curry leaves and saute till they sizzle.
Add the chopped onions and saute until golden brown, or caramelized.
Now add the tomatoes and cook until soft and mushy.
Once the tomatoes are cooked, add mashed dal contents from the pressure cooker and stir well to combine.
Cook on a low heat for about 2 minutes and switch off heat.
