Matar Paneer Galette Recipe is a healthy recipe that can be served for a lunch. Galette is a term which is used in French cuisine to refer various types of flat round or free form crusty cakes. These tarts are not molded in a tart pan, instead, the filling is directly placed on top of the rolled out sheet and the edges are folded up and around the filling with hands. Galette can be sweet or savory. The Pie crust filled with vegetables can turn into a comforting main course. Usually, galettes are filled with fruit and served as a dessert. Matar paneer galette , as the name says, is filled with shredded paneer roasted with masalas in tangy tomato sauce. These galettes are easy to prepare and are different from the conventional chapati/roti served with Paneer.

You can serve the Matar Paneer Galette with some ketchup and a glass of fresh juice. Serve it at your next tea party along with Crispy Corn Chaat  and Mogre Ka Sharbat and Masala Chai

Ingredients

    For pie crust:
  • 1 cups All Purpose Flour (Maida) , or wheat flour
  • 3/4 cup Butter (Salted) , chilled and cut into small pieces OR
  • For filling
  • 350 grams Paneer (Homemade Cottage Cheese)
  • 1 cup Green peas (Matar)
  • 1 Homemade tomato puree
  • 1 Onion
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander Powder (Dhania)
  • 1 teaspoon Red Chilli powder
  • Asafoetida (hing) , a pinch
  • Salt , to taste
  • 1 tablespoon Oil
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh cream
  • 1 tablespoon Cheddar cheese
  • Coriander (Dhania) Leaves , to garnish

How to make Matar Paneer Galette Recipe

  1. To begin making Matar Paneer Galette Recipe, first In a bowl, combine flour, butter and mix well till the flour looks like breadcrumbs.

  2. Add water and combine them well until you get pliable dough. There is no need to knead them well. Cover the dough with paper towel and keep it in fridge for an hour

  3. Grate Paneer and set aside; cook peas in a little amount of water with required amount of salt.

  4. Now in a skillet add some oil and heat it on a medium flame.Add hing, ginger garlic paste and onions. Cook until onions are slightly brown

  5. Then add tomato pieces and cook until they become mushy,cooked peas, red chili powder, coriander powder should be added to the tomato and cook it for 2 minutes.

  6. Let the peas absorb the spices completely and add the grated paneer and sauté.

  7. Simmer the flame and cook for 5 minutes. After cooking the stuffing leave it to cool for a while.

  8. Mean while pre heat the oven at 250 degree.

  9. Take out the dough. Divide them equally and make round balls with hands.Roll out the dough to small thick disks

  10. Line a baking tray with parchment paper; Place the rolled dough on the tray. Scoop the paneer mixture and place them on the disks leavening the edges.

  11. Fold the edges up and around the filling using hands.

  12. Bake the stuffed galette in the oven for about 45 minutes or till the sides are brown.

  13. When it is about five minutes to complete, spread cheddar cheese on top of each galette.

  14. Once it is done, transfer the galette to the cooling rack and allow them to cool down completely.

  15. You can serve the Matar Paneer Galette with some ketchup and a glass of fresh juice. Serve it at your next tea party along with Crispy Corn Chaat  and Mogre Ka Sharbat and Masala Chai.
