Mulangi Thoran Recipe (Radish Stir Fry with Coconut) is a kerala style side dish that has ground coconut, green chilli, curry leaves and ginger. It is then stir fried along with thinly cut radish. The richness of the coconut added into dish gives a wonderful flavor as well as lifts up the whole dish. The spices are not much as it is all ground with coconut and all you need to add is just salt.

Radish is a root vegetable that is rich in fiber and aids in digestion. It also helps in lowering the blood pressure as it is rich in potassium as well.

Ingredients

  • 2 Radish , julienned and steamed
  • 1 teaspoon Coconut Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 8 Curry leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder (Haldi)
  • To Be Ground To Coarse Mixture
  • 1/4 cup Fresh coconut , grated
  • 2 Green Chillies
  • 2 sprig Curry leaves
  • 1 inch Ginger
  • Salt , to taste
  • Cooking oil

Directions for Mulangi Thoran Recipe (Radish Stir Fry with Coconut)

  1. To begin making the Mulangi Thoran Recipe (Raddish Stir Fry with Coconut), we will first steam the raddish in a vegetable steamer and keep it ready.

  2. Blend all the ingredients "to be ground" into a coarse paste and keep aside.

  3. In a heavy bottom pan, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, and allow it to cracke. When they crackle add curry leaves.

  4. Add the cooked raddish, the ground coconut mixture and give it a stir.

  5. Add turmeric powder and salt to taste and stir fry for about 3 to 4 minutes until the Radish thoran is well incorporated. Once done, serve warm.

  6. Serve the Mulangi Thoran Recipe along with steamed rice,Dal Palak Recipe or Mango Rasam Recipe to complete your lunch plate.
