Oats And Apple Crumble Pie Recipe
Guilt free dessert anyone? Oats and wheat germ crumble, layered with sweet and moist cinnamon coated apple slices , this humble yet delicious treat fits the bill perfectly. Wheat germ is an excellent source of vegetable proteins along with fiber and healthy fats. It is also a good source of various vitamins and minerals like Iron, Folic acid, Magnesium, Thiamin, Phosphorus and Zinc. Oats are rich in beta-glucan, a fiber that is known to help lower the level of bad cholesterol.
Serve the Oats and Apple Crumble Pie is also a great snack idea for kids [and adults alike]. It makes for an excellent after dinner dessert as well.

- 3/4 cup Instant Oats (Oatmeal) , dry roast & ground
- 1/2 cup Wheat Germ , roasted
- 1/4 cup Cane sugar
- 1/4 cup Butter (unsalted) , (cold) cut into small pieces
- 1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon Powder (Dalchini)
- 1 Apple , cut into slices
How to make Oats And Apple Crumble Pie Recipe
To begin making the Oats And Apple Crumble Pie, mix the cane sugar, toasted wheat germ and powdered oats together in a large bowl.
Add the cold butter and mix it in with your fingers.You will have a bread crumb like mixture.
Line a loose bottom tin/pie mold with parchment paper.[I used a 6 inch pie mold].Transfer half of the crumble to the lined baking dish and press it down evenly to get the 'pie base'.
Coat the apple slices with cinnamon powder.Arrange over the crumble base.
Sprinkle some of the crumble over the apple slices and place another layer of cinnamon coated apples on top.
Repeat the above step until all you use up all the apple slices.Cover the top with the remaining crumble and press down to get a even surface.
Place a aluminium foil and press it over the pie surface.Place another baking tin on the aluminium foil.Refrigerate for 10 minutes.
In the meantime, Preheat oven for 10 minutes at 180 degree celsius.
Bake the apple crumble pie at 160 degrees for 20 minutes , until it turns golden brown. (keep the whole setting - with the aluminium foil and the baking tin on top while baking).
Once done.Allow to cool completely.Refrigerate for 10 minutes and slice.
