Paneer in White Gravy Recipe -No onion & No Garlic is a comforting curry made rich with a mixture cashew nut paste cooked in milk and curd. The paneer is then toasted separately and dunk in the gravy and served. The gravy is flavored with star anise, bay leaf, cloves, cinnamon and sprinkled with dried fenugreek leaves. The paneer gravy is made with no onion and no garlic option which can also be added as an Ayurvedic option.

Ingredients

  • 200 grams Paneer (Homemade Cottage Cheese) , cut into thin stripes
  • 1 Bay leaf (tej patta)
  • 1 Star anise
  • 1 Cardamom (Elaichi) Pods/Seeds
  • 1 inch Cinnamon Stick (Dalchini)
  • 2 teaspoon Kasuri Methi (Dried Fenugreek Leaves)
  • 1 teaspoon Garam masala powder
  • 20 Cashew nuts , soaked in water and ground into a smooth paste
  • 1/2 cup Milk
  • 1/2 cup Curd (Dahi / Yogurt)
  • Salt , to taste
  • Cooking oil

How to make Paneer in White Gravy Recipe-No onion & No Garlic

  1. To begin making the Paneer in White Gravy Recipe, heat a kadai with oil, add chopped paneer cubes and cook on either side till they turn golden brown. Remove the paneer once browned and keep aside.

  2. In the same  skillet, add little more oil, add in the bay leaf, cardamom, cinnamon stick and allow it to rest for a few seconds.

  3. Add ground cashew nut paste, whisk in milk and curd in a separate bowl and then add them into the pan.

  4. Once it starts boiling, add salt to taste and teaspoon of garam masala powder, dried fenugreek leaves and give it a stir.

  5. Boil for 2 minutes and add in crispy paneer into the curry and serve hot.
