Raw Banana Thoran is a common dish in Kerala and is widely served as a side dish. One cannot think of vegetarian food from God's own country and miss mentioning the thoran. This lightly spiced stir-fry is made with many vegetables and makes the taste of the vegetable taste yummy. In this Thoran we are using raw banana which is the much-loved vegetable in Kerala. The vegetable is combined with mild spices and freshly grated coconut.

Ingredients
- 2 Raw Banana , boiled and diced
- 1 teaspoon Coconut Oil
- 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds (Rai/ Kadugu)
- 2 Dry Red Chillies
- 8 Curry leaves
- 10 Pearl onions (Sambar Onions) , finely chopped
- 2 cloves Garlic , finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder (Haldi) To Be Ground To Coarse Mixture
- 1/4 cup Fresh coconut , grated
- 2 Green Chillies
- 1/4 cup Coriander (Dhania) Leaves , roughly chopped
- Salt , to taste
How to make Raw Banana Thoran Recipe
To begin with, the Raw banana Thoran first, cut the raw banana into half and boil it in the pressure cooker for 3 to 4 whistles and turn off the heat. Once cooked, through, peel the skin and cut into dices.
Blend all the ingredients "to be ground" into a coarse paste and keep aside.
In a heavy bottom pan, add mustard seeds and allow it to cracke. When they crackle add dry red chillies, curry leaves, onions and garlic. Sauté until the onions soften. Add the cooked banana, the ground coconut mixture and give it a stir.
Add the salt to taste and stir fry for about 3 to 4 minutes until the raw banana thoran is well incorporated. Once done, serve warm.
