Hope everyone enjoyed their summer vacations. Schools starting soon and again mums will start racking their brain for what to make for their kids lunch boxes. Well worry not we have planned the perfect kids lunch boxes which have simple, healthy and delicious recipes which your kids will truly enjoy. 

 We start off the week with some homemade idili. The batter for the idili is versatile and in case if your child does not like idli you can even make dosas with the same batter. Idli dosa batter can be a saviour for busy moms. You can serve idili or dosa with any chutney of your choice or even everyday gravies and sambar. 

Adding a variety of vegetables in your kids diet not only adds nutrition but also fiber.  We have included Punjabi Mixed Vegetable Kadai Recipe which have a variety of vegetables in them. You can add any vegetable of your choice to make this recipe. It is always a good idea to add seasonal fruits and vegetables into your and your kids diet. This helps to get maximum benefits.  

You can include vegetables in the form of puree like we have done in Pasta in Roasted Carrot & Red Pepper Sauce.  Carrots are a good source of beta carotene and good for eyes. Most kids love munching on carrots and they are very versatile as well. We have also included carrots in Aloo Gajar Matar Sabzi Recipe which goes well with any Indian bread. 

Apart form a healthy lunch box here are some great snack ideas and after school snack ideas for your kids. Make snacks which have a good shelf life over the weekends. Lots of energy bars and indian snacks do not need to be refrigerated and are a good option to replace packaged foods.

Monday

Idli & Coconut Chutney

Homemade Idli are super soft and healthy and kids love them. It is an easy dish to pack into your kids lunch boxes. Make the batter on a Sunday and keep the batter handy. Grate coconut for the coconut chutney and keep it refrigerated. Use warm water in the morning to make the coconut chutney. 

Tuesday

Aloo Gajar Matar Sabzi & Phulka

Aloo Gajar Matar Sabzi is a one pot dish which you can make quickly in the pressure cooker. It goes great with any Indian bread. Chop and keep the vegetables required the previous night in an airtight container. Make the dough for the atta and keep it refrigerated as well.

Wednesday

Pasta & Fresh fruit bowl

Pasta In Roasted Red Pepper Sauce is an easy to make everyday pasta recipe. You can cook the pasta the night before and keep it refrigerated. Toss the pasta in little oil and keep them so that they don't stick to each other. Chop and keep all the carrots and the capsicum required for the sauce as well. When packing pasta for lunch box make sure you make it with extra sauce as pasta tends to dry up over time. Pack pasta with seasonal fruits to add more nutrition to your kids diet.

Lauki Thepla & Mixed Vegetable Kadai

The more variety of vegetables you add in a lunch box the more nutrition your kid gets. Make the dough for the lauki thepla the night before and keep it refrigerated in an airtight container. Chop all the vegetables for the vegetable kadai and keep them separately in airtight containers as well.

Paneer Matar Pulao & Chickpeas Curry

Paneer Matar Pulao Recipe is a quick nutritious rice dish flavoured with spices and paneer . It is a flavourful Pulao recipe and can be made quickly on a busy morning. It goes great with any Indian curry. We have paired it with a delicious Chickpea Coconut Milk Curry. You can boil the chickpeas the previous night and keep them refrigerated in an airtight container.
