  • 1 cup Hung Curd (Greek Yogurt)
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 1/4 cup Sugar , powdered
  • pinch Saffron strands , or any other flavour
  • 2 teaspoons Chironji , or nuts of your choice
  • Ghee , for greasing the plate

How to make Shrikhand Vadi Recipe (Yogurt Barfi)

  1. To begin making Shrikhand Vadi, first grease a small plate or a flat pan (about 6-7 inches) with ghee and keep aside.

  2. Take yogurt and sugar in a heavy bottom pan.

  3. Mix and place on low heat.

  4. Once the sugar melts, add the saffron and chironji.

  5. Mix and stir as it cooks.

  6. Keep stirring till all the water has evaporated (about 15-20 minutes).

  7. Drop a little mixture in cold water to see if hardens immediately. If it does, take the pan off the heat.

  8. Stir nicely for a few more minutes, and add the powdered sugar.

  9. Mix and take it out onto the greased plate.

  10. Spread and even out the surface with a spatula or a plastic sheet.

  11. With a sharp knife etch square or diamond shapes in the mixture.

  12. Cool completely, this may take 1-2 hours or more.

  13. Cut into pieces. Your Shrikhand Vadi is ready to be savoured.

  14. Store in an airtight container and refrigerate if you need to store it for a longer duration.
